Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector and Canadian Space Agency Organizational Values and Ethics Code

The new Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, which entered into force on , sets out the expected behaviours that correspond to the values of the federal public sector: respect for democracy, respect for individuals, integrity, stewardship and excellence. Canadian Space Agency (CSA) employees, as part of the federal public sector, are required to abide by the Code as a condition of employment. In addition, in order to better reflect the environment and culture specific to the CSA, the Values and Ethics Committee conducted consultations within the CSA to create our own Organizational Code which will serve as a policy, a reference and a tool for employees, managers, students and other people working at the CSA. The Canadian Space Agency Organizational Values and Ethics Code presents in a single document the values contained in the Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector and the values specific to the CSA.

Conflict of interest

As the new Directive on Conflict of Interest of the Treasury Board Secretariat is a complement to the Code of values and ethics in the public sector, individuals who adhere to the Code must respect this policy as well. The CSA promotes the implementation of this policy which establishes our responsibilities with regard to the conflict of interest and post-employment. Prevention, management or resolution of conflicts of interests is one of the main ways to maintain and strengthen the public's confidence in the integrity of the CSA, as an institution of the federal public sector.

Harassment in the workplace

No form of harassment can be tolerated at the CSA. The policy of the Secretariat of the Treasury Board on the prevention and resolution of harassment is a guide whose purpose is to foster a respectful and harassment-free work environment and to which the CSA fully adheres. Preventing and resolving harassment in the workplace is a major objective of the CSA, which also encourages the use of the resources provided by the Informal Conflict Management System implemented at the CSA.
